Don't wait until it’s too late—early detection saves lives!

How to evaluate lumps and bumps on your dog.

Fortunately, most lumps and bumps on dogs are benign, which means they do not need to be removed.

Masses occur either in the dermal (on the skin) or subcutaneous (beneath the skin) areas. The most common types of cancers include Mast Cell Tumors, Soft Tissue Sarcomas and Squamous Cell Carcinomas. These cancerous masses can occur anywhere throughout the body.

  • • Mast Cell Tumors: Vary in appearance and behavior. They may differ in size or color.
  • • Soft Tissue Sarcomas: May be firm or soft, are often slow-growing masses under the skin and do not cause pain.
  • • Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Either scaly, crusty lesions or even subcutaneous lesions.

Early detection of these types of cancers is crucial for the treatment and longevity of your pet.

How we screen for cancer.

We proudly offer cancer screening for lumps and bumps with the HT Vista device. A 40-second non-invasive scan of your pet’s bump can determine if it’s benign or if we should perform more tests. This non-invasive scan is fast and pain-free connecting us with the answers we need to determine the next steps for your pet.

Here’s how it works:

  • • We will clip the fur around the lump on your pet.
  • • The lump is scanned for 40 seconds.
  • • HT Vista gives us results on the spot.

  • “The staff was great! The doctor was outstanding!! Very knowledgeable and took care, plenty of time with our two dogs. She sat on the floor w/the animals. One of our dogs is blind and the doc getting down on their level, the floor, made all the difference w/our pooches. I would definitely recommend Spaw City. We love all the attention!!!”

  • “My little Frenchie,, Tater Tot, got great care here ! I was pleasantly surprised by how thorough and focused on every aspect of her health. They even noticed where my last vet didn't do her vaccine booster within the proper time frame-leaving her susceptible to infection.. I'm grateful they caught this ! I highly recommend them !!”
